I now write you from Victoria, where we have returned and happy to be here.
It was an adventure, but in the end, There is no place like home.

Well….

IT was THE hardest move I had every done. I have never lived up on the 4th floor, and with no elevator. A big thank you to our friends Jeremy and Lina and Henri for all the sweat. I have posted a photo of our new hood. We are very happy, and it’s strange, but we almost feel like we are living in the McGill campus. There are a lot of students living in this area, but we are on the edge of downtown. It’s a lot quieter than we thought, but there have been the odd party. I think we just need to start dressing like the students, and maybe we will be invited. Julie and I went for a walk up the mountain yesterday. It was a beautifull day and the leaves are almost all changed. We are finding ourselves getting used to this city more. There is soo much for us to discover and it will take time. I have starting playing more poker lately, and I am on a mission to turn my initial investment of $50 into $10,000. My bankroll is building slowely, but it’s moving in the right direction. The snow is coming soon, that scares me a bit. I had to take a break from my French lessons, but I am back in them now. I am starting to understand more, but still have a long way to go. Julie got me to read “The Book of Negros” and it’s really good.

Hope y’all are doing great out there in lala land.

After finally getting settled in our new place, we have decided to move to another apartment. Our commute from our hood is just too far to get to where we have to go on a daily basis. Above is a pic of Avery feeding a baby squirrel in our new hood.

We will be moving to the McGill Ghetto that will be 3 minutes away from Aveys school and 3 minutes from my work. We will be surrounded by English speaking university students.

I still feel like I havent seen enough of the city yet. A 12 hour shift seems to take most of the day with sleep. I just came off a great weekend with 3 1/2 days off and we had dinner with friends on Saturday and Sunday night.

I can’t say I am in love with Montreal yet, but we have heard so many people say that it took them a year to love the city. So……..In a year, I will let you know if it’s true.

I guess its time to start packing.

My friend Doug mentioned that there was no photo of me on here, so here it is, Doug…..

A shot from Eric at our going away party.

I think once I am not so tired, I will post a bit more.

Oh, by the way, I have a Montreal cold!! My first one. Kinda feels like a BC one, except I am coughing in French. (I think I might be drunk here?)

We drove to Toronto for a wedding on Toronto Island this weekend.

It was a super hot and muggy day, but the ceremony was beautiful(see pic).

Avery was a flower girl, and I had the pleasure of playing music as they walked down the aisle.

Right before we left for T.O. I got a call and was offered a job at the Holiday Inn downtown. I said yes, and ended up driving all the way back on Sat night for work on Sun. I will be working 60 hours this week, and then 48 next week to get trained.

Avery,Jonah and I will be going to La Ronde tomorrow since it’s the last real day off I will have until he goes home.

At this point, I would have to say that we are missing all our friends in Victoria big time.

I think I better start my French lessons now……………………………………….

Got some photos to put up soon, just have to find some time and do it. The vacation is OVER, and now we must find jobs and make a splash in this huge pool.

We are off to the cottage for about 2 weeks, and then its time to make things happen in the city.

Love to you all.
